Actors Lee Jang Woo and Jo Hye Won held their wedding ceremony on November 23 at Lotte Hotel World in Songpa-gu, Seoul, officially becoming husband and wife. Surrounded by family, friends and colleagues, the event garnered attention for its star-studded lineup, with ‘I Live Alone’ members Jun Hyun Moo and Kian84 serving as officiant and MC respectively.

The couple first met through the 2018 KBS weekend drama ‘My Only One’ and later developed a romantic relationship, with Korean media describing their marriage as the culmination of seven to eight years of dating. Since going public with their relationship in June 2023, they have been known as a steady, low-key couple, and their marriage has been warmly welcomed by drama viewers and variety show fans alike.

The wedding effectively became a special episode of ‘I Live Alone’. Jun Hyun Moo, officiating a wedding for the first time, kept the couple and guests laughing with his signature warm yet witty speech, while Kian84 led the ceremony as MC with variety-show style commentary and ad-libbed interactions. For the congratulatory songs, Lee Jang Woo’s cousin Hwanhee of Fly to the Sky performed his hit ‘Sea of Love’, joined by musical actors Min Woo Hyuk and Han Ji Sang, who delivered a musical-like performance. Numerous celebrities, including Park Na Rae, Key, Code Kunst and Lee Joo Seung, were reported to have attended, with Korean outlets estimating close to a thousand guests in total.

One of the most eye-catching elements of the ceremony was the ‘walnut cookie bouquet’ and gift set prepared for guests. Buchang Bakery, the walnut cookie brand Lee Jang Woo has collaborated with, shared wedding photos on its official SNS, revealing that it had created a surprise gift for the couple: a bouquet combining walnut-shaped cookies with fresh flowers, along with specially designed gift boxes filled with walnut cookies for attendees. The packaging featured illustrations of the couple and a message thanking guests for their warm support on the special day.

In its post, Buchang Bakery explained that walnuts have long been used in dishes for honored guests and, in traditional Korean weddings, symbolize prosperity and the flourishing of descendants. By reinterpreting this motif through a walnut cookie bouquet and gift boxes, the brand hoped to ‘fill this moment of love and blessing with wishes for unwavering happiness and prosperity for the couple’. After photos and videos were shared online, phrases such as ‘walnut cookie wedding’ and ‘never seen a bouquet like this before’ quickly climbed real-time search rankings on Korean portals.

In terms of their careers, Lee Jang Woo, born in 1986, made his debut in the 2006 MBC drama ‘90 Days, Time to Love’ and went on to earn recognition through series such as ‘Smile, Dong Hae’, ‘Glory Jane’, ‘Here Comes Mr. Oh’, ‘My Only One’ and ‘Oh! Samkwang Villa!’. In recent years he has also become a familiar face on variety shows like ‘I Live Alone’ and ‘Rural Village Lee Jang Woo’. Jo Hye Won, born in 1994, debuted in the 2016 film ‘Hon-soom’ and has appeared in dramas including ‘Mine’, ‘Military Prosecutor Doberman’, ‘Awaken’ and ‘Queenmaker’.

Korean media have also framed the wedding as a meaningful turning point in Lee Jang Woo’s life and career. On one hand, he is expected to scale back his regular ‘I Live Alone’ appearances for the time being to focus on newlywed life and acting projects; on the other, the much-talked-about collaboration with Buchang Bakery has further highlighted his ability to bridge dramas, variety shows and brand partnerships. For long-time viewers of ‘I Live Alone’ and ‘My Only One’, the event feels less like a celebrity wedding and more like witnessing a familiar on-screen figure and his partner step into a new chapter together.
