tvN’s new Monday–Tuesday drama ‘Mean Love’ (Korean title: 얄미운 사랑) is set to premiere on November 3 at 8:50 PM KST. Starring Lee Jung Jae and Lim Ji Yeon, the series follows a top actor who has lost his way and an entertainment reporter driven by truth, as their conflict slowly turns into an unexpected romance. Directed by Kim Garam and written by Jung Yeo-rang, the show mixes rom-com elements with media-industry realism and has become a major talking point online before its release.

Lee Jung Jae plays Lim Hyun-joon, a celebrated actor famous for his detective roles, while Lim Ji Yeon stars as Wi Jung-shin, a reporter demoted after exposing a major corruption scandal. Their on-screen dynamic evolves from rivalry to attraction, as seen in the teaser where sharp exchanges gradually give way to subtle chemistry and heartfelt tension.

Director Kim Garam described ‘Mean Love’ as a story that captures the emotional temperature between affection and annoyance, breaking away from the idealized portrayals typical of romance dramas. He noted, 'It’s about two people who start with misunderstanding and conflict but grow into understanding and love. I hope viewers connect with their realistic journey.' The production team emphasized that the show also explores the complex dynamics between celebrities and the media.

Korean media have highlighted 'Mean Love' as Lee Jung Jae’s first TV role in six years since 'Squid Game,' marking a significant small-screen comeback. The 18-year age gap between him and Lim Ji Yeon has also sparked buzz. Lee joked, 'Ji Yeon keeps scolding me on set—maybe that’s why she cast me.' Lim responded, 'I actually invited him to join because I felt he was perfect for this role, and surprisingly, working with him felt even more comfortable than with peers.'

Joining the leads are Kim Ji-hoon and Seo Ji-hye, portraying a sports media CEO and an entertainment editor, adding depth to the narrative’s network of relationships. The team humorously set a 30% viewership goal, promising a special MV if achieved. Multiple teasers have already been released, with fans commenting, 'Their pairing feels refreshing,' and 'Lee Jung Jae’s comedic timing is unexpectedly natural.'

According to outlets including iMBC, The Fact, and Daum News, 'Mean Love' is expected to be tvN’s flagship year-end romantic title. With its A-list cast and polished production, it’s poised to generate strong buzz upon release. The official teasers on YouTube showcase witty exchanges and heartwarming moments, drawing enthusiastic anticipation from viewers.
