SEVENTEEN’s DK and Seungkwan Launch Vocal Sub-Unit with Mini Album ‘Soyeogok’ Official Photos

Article2 days ago

As SEVENTEEN continues its group activities at a steady pace, the group has officially launched a new vocal sub-unit project. Comprised of DK and Seungkwan, the duo revealed the ‘Soyeon’ version official photos for their first mini album ‘Soyeogok’ in late December, signaling a creative direction that places vocal expression and emotional storytelling at the forefront, separate from the group’s main promotional track.

Both DK and Seungkwan have long served as key emotional anchors within SEVENTEEN’s vocal line. Rather than emphasizing large-scale performances or visual impact, their sub-unit project intentionally returns to the fundamentals of voice and emotion, establishing a clear artistic focus centered on vocal nuance.

The title ‘Soyeogok,’ often described as ‘a love song sung at night (Serenade),’ frames the album around emotional moments that unfold between meeting and separation. Rather than relying on dramatic narratives, the project focuses on familiar emotional phases that many listeners can relate to.

The ‘Soyeon (素戀)’ version combines the meanings of ‘pure’ and ‘love,’ symbolizing emotions presented in their most unembellished form. The visuals rely on negative space and subtle lighting to convey mood rather than spectacle.

In the released photos, Seungkwan is portrayed through soft lighting and restrained composition, while DK’s visuals emphasize emotional focus through contrast and posture. Despite their differences, both visuals align with the album’s shared emotional core.

According to the official schedule, DK and Seungkwan will release their first mini album ‘Soyeogok’ on January 12, 2026, at 6 PM KST, with additional teasers released in stages ahead of the album launch.

## 【KStarLoud Insight】 As SEVENTEEN’s global activities reach a mature stage, the introduction of a vocal sub-unit allows the group to refocus on voice-driven storytelling. By emphasizing purity and emotional depth through ‘Soyeogok’ and its ‘Soyeon’ concept, the project highlights long-term listening value and adds a more layered dimension to the group’s 2026 content strategy.
